FBI Teams with St. Margaret Foundation
to Establish Fund
In Memory of Special Agent Samuel Hicks
Foundation Grants $1,000 to
Memorial Fund for Surviving Family Members
PITTSBURGH (Nov. 21, 2008)—The Federal Bureau of Investigation has agreed to team with St. Margaret Foundation to establish and promote a special fund in memory of Special Agent Samuel Hicks, who lost his life in the line of duty during a drug raid in Indiana Township on November 19, 2008.
The Samuel Hicks Memorial Fund will be administered by St. Margaret Foundation, which will accept financial gifts from donors and oversee how those funds are invested and used. As part of its role, the Foundation has agreed to make an initial grant of $1,000 to the fund.
“Agent Hicks lost his life performing a vital role in protecting the public, and this tragic incident occurred within the area served by UPMC St. Margaret,” said Matt Hughes, president of St. Margaret Foundation. “For those reasons, we are honored to work with the FBI in establishing and administering this special fund in memory of a true hero.”
The initial $1,000 grant from the Foundation will help provide food and other assistance during the holiday season for Agent Hicks’ survivors – his wife, Brooke, and two-year-old son, Noah, said Hughes.
Brooke and Sam just celebrated their 5 year wedding
anniversary on Nov 8 and Noah turned 2-years-old in August. In addition to his
